Hamlin Summer Camp

Hamlin Camp is back for Summer 2022!

This summer, Hamlin’s newly remodeled campus will be buzzing with activity as we welcome students back to our expanded summer programs. These programs include Cubs Club for incoming Kindergarteners, Hamlin Camp for rising students in Grades 1-4, Middle School specialty camps for rising students in Grades 5-7, and our Counselor In Training Program for rising students in Grades 7-9. Hamlin girls will enjoy a traditional summer camp experience in a welcoming environment that they already know and love. We will be following all current guidelines from the SF Department of Public Health to ensure a safe and healthy camp experience for all. Campers will be put into stable and age-appropriate cohorts, alongside the familiar faces of Hamlin staff, faculty, and young alumni. 

 

Hamlin’s summer program will run from June 20 - July 29, 2022, from 9:00 - 3:30 p.m. daily. Camp tuition includes Morning Care from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., and drop-in Extended Day will be offered from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. at an additional fee of $15 per day. Drop-in care will be billed at the end of each week. All camps will be held at our campus at 2120 Broadway, utilizing our brand new facilities. 

 

Cubs Club: (registration for Cubs Club will open on Sunday, April 3rd at noon)

Grade Level: Entering Kindergarten

Session Cost: $595 

 

Cubs Club is our day camp for incoming Hamlin Kindergarteners, designed specifically to ease the transition into their new school. Campers will spend their days making art, playing group games, exploring the outdoors, and having a BLAST in the newly remodeled Hamlin building! Throughout this valuable one-week program, campers will acclimate to the school campus, develop new friendships, and become familiar with the Hamlin community. After attending an enriching and fun-filled camp, spent alongside peers and mentors, campers will leave feeling confident about starting Kindergarten as a Hamlin girl.

We are thrilled to continue Hamlin Camp for rising students in Grades 1-4! This traditional day camp offers a dynamic balance of structure and play, led by caring and creative Hamlin faculty and alum. Our specialists and camp counselors will ensure that your camper maximizes every minute of their summer vacation. Whether shooting hoops on the rooftop court, scaling a 3-story climbing wall, hiking to a local playground, or celebrating Friday theme days, your camper is sure to make lasting memories and friendships. Although the content of each day will be new and different, Hamlin Camp will follow this basic schedule:

*Please note: We plan to take walking field trips to nearby playgrounds, so early pick-ups must be communicated ahead of time. We will always be back on campus by 3:00 p.m.

Calling all theater lovers . . . We are excited to continue our summer theater camp on the beautiful NEW Hamlin stage! Join us, and become an Off-Broadway star!! In this two-week workshop, campers will learn and/or review the basics of acting and improvisation while rehearsing for a short play production. They will enjoy the hands-on opportunity to apply techniques in voice, movement, script work, and character development to their work on stage. Beginning and experienced actors will be challenged. The performance for family and friends will take place on Friday, July 1, the last afternoon of our camp session.

 

Please note:  Play choice is dependent on enrollment and will be announced by the second day of camp. Campers should commit to attending all camp days since they will be needed in rehearsals.

 

Basketball Clinic with Mr. Louie

Dates: June 27th - July 1st, 2022

Grade Level: Grades 5-8

Session Cost: $625

 

Welcome to our first basketball summer clinic in the new school gym. This clinic will be run by Grade 6 basketball coach, Mr. Brian Louie. Players in this basketball summer clinic, whether they are beginners or intermediate, will be trained in the following: angles, ball handling, body control, conditioning, defense, explosiveness, form, footwork, overall court awareness, passing, shooting and speed. Activities include rotational skills stations as well as strength and conditioning exercises. This clinic will be geared towards beginner to intermediate players going into grades 5-8.

 

Each player will be required to bring basketball shoes and water bottles.

 

 

The Art of Nature Journaling with Ms. Feldman

Dates: July 5 - July 8, 2022 (No camp on Monday, July 4)

Grade Level: Grades 5-7

Session Cost: $525

 

Sketchbooks are an important part of the creative process helping artists develop their ideas, record observations, and jot down thoughts.  This camp offers the opportunity to develop a sketchbook practice and explore the natural world through direct observation both inside and outside of the art studio. Participants will take their practice on the road with a mid-week field trip to the great outdoors. We will use a variety of media including pen and ink, color pencils, watercolor and printmaking.

 

Thrift Mining with Mx. Orellana

Dates: July 11 - July 15, 2022

Grade Level: Grades 5-7

Session Cost: $625

 

Attention treasure hunters! Thrift stores are gold mines for gadgets and gizmos looking for new life – and we need YOUR help to make that happen! Whether it be keepsakes or fashions, we'll go offsite to search high and low for the treasure that speaks to you. Then, with a little elbow grease and imagination, we can flip or "UPcycle" your find to make it a one-of-a-kind piece for you to take home. Whether you choose to restore, repair, or completely reimagine your find, this camp will provide a variety of tools and materials to inspire explorations and innovations. Campers will get hands-on experience with tinkering, painting, dyeing, sewing, and all things DIY.  Save these thrifted treasures and give them a second life!

 

 

Dance Camp with Ms. Griffin

Dates: July 18 - July 22, 2022

Grade Level: Grades 5-7

Session Cost: $625

 

This one-week camp with Ms. Griffin is perfect for the child who wants to explore a variety of styles of dance, while learning how to use their own creative voice. The camp will focus on developing and building a strong foundation of dance technique in ballet, modern, and jazz through exercises and movement combinations. Utilizing Hamlin’s new dance lab and theater, dancers will have the opportunity to explore their own choreographic ideas through creative movement and activities. The week will culminate with a showcase of student and teacher generated choreography for family and friends. Let’s get moving!


Painting On…. with Ms. Feldman

Dates: July 24 - July 29, 2022

Grade Level: Grades 5-7

Session Cost: $625

 

Get ready to paint! This one-week session explores painting on a variety of surfaces and with different materials.  From canvas to fabric and beyond, participants will be immersed in this expansive art form. Novice and experienced painters alike will enjoy learning traditional techniques like Batik silk painting and Plein Air painting to capture the world within and around us.  A mid-week field trip to a local art museum will provide some inspiration. 

 

 

Counselor In Training Program:

Calling all rising students in Grades 7, 8, and 9 to join the Counselor in Training (CIT) Program! Students in this program will spend their summer building leadership skills and serving as mentors for their younger Hamlin sisters in Grades K-4. The mornings will be spent as a middle school group, engaging in team building activities and games, learning real-life skills (such as conflict resolution, public speaking, and First Aid/CPR training), and designing activities to share with Lower School campers. In the afternoons, CITs will get hands-on experience working in the Lower School camps, and implementing the skills and practices from their morning sessions. If you are a rising 7th, 8th, or 9th grader, this is your chance to be a big sister, a mentor, and a role model to our youngest community members!

FAQs:

 

How will summer camp fees be collected?

A $100 deposit per session will be billed via FACTS shortly after registration. In order to confirm your child’s spot, camp tuition is due in full by June 6, 2022.

 

What is the refund policy?

All of the camps must meet minimum enrollment requirements. If a camp needs to be canceled, parents will be notified and receive a full refund.

For all other cancellations, the $100 deposit is non-refundable. If you wish to make changes to your summer camp registration, you may do so before May 15, 2022 and receive a refund minus the $100 deposit. We cannot issue refunds of any kind after May 15, 2021.
